What to expect

Take Courage...

You will be met with compassion and without judgment. We will establish a purposeful relationship to explore problems and goals that will lead you toward positive change. Because each person is unique, I create a personalized wellness plan specific to your needs. I combine care and empathy with various evidence-based assessments and therapies to develop your wellness plan. My passion is encouraging growth and equipping you with the appropriate tools and resources to achieve your goals.

I understand that each day can bring new challenges and stress, leading to feeling very overwhelmed. You will be supported through these highs and lows of life and be given a safe space to be vulnerable and share personal struggles. I will assist you with self-managing all aspects of life by sharing information, lived experience perspectives, practical problem solving, and connecting with peer supports and advocacy groups as needed. Together, we will understand where you are now and, more importantly, where you want to be.

You will learn and believe you can handle and overcome complicated feelings and situations. I will help you attain success that once felt unachievable and ensure you do not lose sight of the endless possibilities ahead. I will walk with you on your journey, providing encouragement, direction, accountability, and at times, the hard truth. I will challenge you in hopes that you will begin fulfilling your most significant potential. Finally, I will support you in finding answers and developing a happier, healthier lifestyle where you are proud to wake up and tackle each day with clarity and confidence!!

Coaching Process

Consultation:

After a new client schedules a consultation with me, I will reach out on the appointment date, where we will discuss what has brought you to coaching in more detail. This initial appointment can feel overwhelming for some, and these feelings are entirely normal, but I promise it's not as scary as you think. I'm just a regular person with some training and experience to help you through life's challenges.   I aim to put you at ease and ensure you feel welcomed, heard, and accepted.

This is an excellent opportunity to ask any questions to help make an informed decision, including whether I am the right fit for you. So I encourage you to come up with some questions to get the most out of your consultation.

This is a no-obligation consultation. This a time to connect and get a feel for what it would be like working together. When finding a good match, the connection you feel is most important. I genuinely enjoy meeting new people and responding to your questions. Once you feel comfortable, we will proceed to session two.

Session One:

Once it has been determined that Coaching is a good fit, we'll start moving forward together.  Your journey will begin with a 90-minute 1:1 video meeting or phone call where we will discuss what has brought you to recovery and start gathering some personal and background information.

The first session is an excellent opportunity for you to ask me any questions to ensure we will be a good fit.  Additionally, I will share with you some of my expectations regarding confidentiality and cancellation policy.

Session Two:

This is a continued exploration of your thoughts and feelings associated with substance abuse treatment and the presenting problem.  This is an opportunity to further identify and develop goals that will lead to your success.

Subsequent Sessions

As we continue to meet, you should start feeling more comfortable, and appointments will begin to have a predictable rhythm.  We will continue working on current challenges and focus on the primary concerns of the day.  We may discuss more uncomfortable topics that can result in strong emotions that affect you outside of our session together.  Progress may sometimes feel up and down, combined with having better days than others.  These "yo-yo" feelings are entirely normal and will begin to stabilize over time.  We will continue identifying and implementing specific action plans to develop a sober lifestyle outcome as we work together.
